Just because the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) project was sealed under his stint as the agriculture minister, does not mean he's involved in the scandal, Muhyiddin Yassin told Mohd Puad Zarkashi today.

The Bersatu president was responding to the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director-general's recent remark questioning Muhyiddin's "silence" in the controversy, since the project was greenlit when he held the agriculture ministry portfolio.

"He (Puad) need not challenge me. Everyone knows this case, it does not involve me at all.

"I admit that it was signed when I was the agriculture minister, as the then prime minister Abdullah (Ahmad Badawi) wanted to increase the country's production rate.

"What Puad should be asking is why was no action taken against those running (the NFC), until it failed," Muhyiddin, the former deputy prime minister, told a press conference at the Bersatu headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

Muhyiddin urged Puad not to give the NFC issue a political twist. 

"He must know the 'real' situation behind NFC. Those given the rights and loans for the project are the ones who caused it to fail," he said.
