Zuraida: Maria will be a good candidate for S'gor or KL
Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah will be a good candidate who can contest in either Kuala Lumpur or Selangor, says PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin.
"She'll be a good candidate and parliamentarian... With her profile, she can bring her struggle for free and fair elections to Parliament.
"She will be better suited to contest in urban areas, like in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor, where people are familiar with her and can associate with her," Zuraida told Malaysiakini when met in Shah Alam yesterday...
Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah will be a good candidate who can contest in either Kuala Lumpur or Selangor, says PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin.

"She will be better suited to contest in urban areas, like in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor, where people are familiar with her and can associate with her," Zuraida told Malaysiakini when met in Shah Alam yesterday.
However, Zuraida said, she could not offer a specific seat to Maria yet, as the latter had yet to make a decision on whether to run in the 14th general election.
Maria confirmed yesterday that she had been approached to contest for a parliamentary seat in GE14, stating that she is weighing her options.
Responding to a question, Zuraida revealed that she had approached the activist two weeks ago to rope her in as a candidate.
"I talk to people like her and (former Bersih chief) Ambiga Sreenevasan. Every election I approach them to ask them to contest," she said.
The Ampang MP said if Maria does decide to become a Pakatan Harapan candidate, it would help her to fulfil her goal of increasing the number of women contesting in the general election.
"Women voters will also be very important in GE14," she added.
On the same note, Zuraida expressed her hope that Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad would consider fielding more women in GE14.
"This will show that he is serious about reforms," she said.
