Feel free to use Bersatu logo, Muhyiddin tells Harapan allies

Bersatu has said it would welcome any other Pakatan Harapan component parties contesting under its banner, said the party president Muhyddin Yassin.

"We will be very happy if anyone or any party wishes to use Bersatu's symbol and logo in election. We welcome (them) for that purpose.

"I believe other party president and parties might feel the same also," he told a press conference.

Muhyiddin was asked if the four component parties had decided on a single logo to contest under, following from Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad saying yesterday that all four parties would contest under a single logo.

Mahathir said, however, that the parties have yet to decide on which logo to use.

Explaining the statement, Muhyiddin noted that Harapan only made the decision yesterday in principle.

"That was the decision in principle, but to implement it, we need to take into consideration Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular," he said.

This was a reference to Harapan working with Parti Warisan Sabah in the state, who are not part of the opposition coalition.

Additionally, Bersatu has stated that it would not be fielding any candidates in Sarawak in the coming polls.

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail insisted that there was no rush to choose a logo, noting that the decision can be made closer to the polls.

Harapan had submitted its application to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to be registered as coalition on July 24, 2017.

Given that ROS failed to respond to Harapan seven months after the application, however, several of the coalition's leaders filed suit

Seat talks for four states complete

Meanwhile, Harapan chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah said state seat negotiations in Perlis, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan and Johor have been resolved.

When asked about Selangor, where 26 out of 56 state seats are reportedly still in dispute, he only noted that negotiations are taking place at the central leadership level.

"We are negotiating several states together (at the central level), because sometimes a party may not get the number they want in this state, but they will get the number they want in another state," he said.
