PAS unveils manifesto

Gagasan Sejahtera, led by PAS, unveiled its manifesto, which included promises to abolish the goods and services tax (GST) and an exemption on excise tax for first-time car buyers.

Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad also received a special mention in the manifesto, specifically on him denying oil royalty to Kelantan and Terengganu when he was prime minister.

Selangor PAS defended its decision to write to the Selangor Sultan on not receiving state allocation, stating that the party looked to the monarch for justice.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang called other opposition parties "cowards", accusing them of running to "foreigners" to fight BN.

DAP hopes for 'giant slayer' in Ayer Hitam

DAP formally announced Liew Chin Tong as its Ayer Hitam candidate, to face off with MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong.

MCA president Liow Tiong Lai said the party is unfazed by DAP deploying heavyweights in MCA seats in Johor and accused Liew of running away from his incumbent constituency of Kluang.

Liew Vui Keong, the former president of the Liberal Democratic Party which is a BN component, defected to Parti Warisan Sabah.

The prime minister's political secretary Wong Nai Chee said he was only following instructions to contest in Alor Gajah and urged those from the grassroots who are unhappy to stay calm.

Incumbent Alor Gajah MP Koh Nai Kwong, who has to make way for Wong, remains tighlipped over the matter.

Harapan secretariat chief Saifuddin Abdullah is expected to be fielded in the parliamentary seat of Indera Mahkota.

Kelantan Harapan is mooting alternative menteri besar candidates as a back-up plan after their first choice state Amanah chief Husam Musa earned the wrath of the Kelantan palace.

1MDB whistleblower speaks up

Whistleblower Xavier Justo accused PetroSaudi, which engaged in questionable deals with 1MDB, of coercion.

1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy said the Malaysian fund did not pay a single sen to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Former minister Rais Yatim lamented that 1MDB-linked businessperson Low Taek Jho appeared to be more important than Umno.

MCA accused Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of brainwashing children after he led them to sing an anti-GST song.

The party also questioned Lim about a new photograph of him with an MACC suspect.
