PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has called his opposition rivals cowards for allegedly resorting to foreign help to fight BN.

While he did not elaborate, it was an obvious slight to Pakatan Harapan, which PAS had refused to join.

"We’re not boasting. If we win, we will make changes, if we don’t win, we would be advisers to the government to make changes.

"We wouldn’t invite other countries and foreign powers to intervene in our political affairs.

“There are some parties that act brave, but are not. They want to fight BN by inviting outsiders, the foreign media and foreign parties," he said in his speech at a ceramah celebrating 10 years in the Pakatan Rakyat-Pakatan Harapan state government.

While Hadi did not elaborate, PAS has joined its former arch enemy Umno in denouncing foreign attention on the worldwide 1MDB scandal as foreign intervention.

This followed the US Department of Justice’s (DOJ) forfeiture suits on assets it claims had been procured using funds allegedly laundered from 1MDB, that has sparked growing international media attention.

1MDB-related cases have also been conducted in Switzerland and Singapore, among others.

Hadi’s kingmaker dream

PAS event in Shah Alam last night was held concurrently with Harapan’s own carnival at a stadium nearby, to which they claim they were not invited.

PAS cut ties with PKR last year and has snubbed Harapan, but its excos remain in the PKR-led Selangor cabinet.

Hadi repeated his aim to get as many seats as possible so they could be kingmakers.

“We will try as far as possible for a 'simple majority' (of seats in Parliament), if not, we will try to get as many seats as we can to make us the kingmakers,” he said.

“(That way), no party can form the government (on their own), they will have to meet us first,” he told the 7,500 supporters at the event.

At the event, participants went as far as to pray for the destruction of the “evil pakatan".
