DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang says he is in the “Twilight Zone" after his status as an MP was left in limbo following an allegedly incomplete motion to suspend him.

Lim was allowed to remain in the Dewan Rakyat, but said his vote was disqualified during the bloc vote on the redelineation report.

"I am in the ‘Twilight Zone,’ whether I am suspended or not. If I was suspended today, I should not be in the house.

"But before and after lunch I was in the house, and I even interjected (Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi), but if I am not suspended then my vote should be counted," he told an opposition press conference in the Parliament media room today.

The motion to suspend Lim was made this morning, after he refused to vacate the house following a commotion which delayed the tabling of the redelineation report.

However, after Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman Said tabled the motion, the Dewan Rakyat speaker called for a brief recess in order to give the him time to leave the house.

Lim refused to do so, and neither was the motion to suspend him pursued further. The Gelang Patah MP was still present when the house voted 129 for, and 80 against the redelineation report.

However, Seremban MP Anthony Loke said there should have been 81 votes against.

"But as the vote counter, I was ordered by a Parliament officer, who was ordered by the speaker, to not count Lim's vote," Loke said.

"Azalina only read the motion to suspend Lim for six months, but there was no decision by the speaker. The motion to gantung (suspend) Lim was tergantung (left hanging)," he added.
