Umno man cries sabotage; PM asks civil servants to be loyal

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Umno man cries sabotage

Bandar Tun Razak Umno chief Rizalman Mokhtar said his arrest by the police at a nightclub on Monday was a set-up.

Contrary to the police saying that he tested positive for methamphetamine, Rizalman said he only indulged in Nescafe and karaoke prior to the raid.

The division leader also questioned MACC's involvement in the police raid, and their supervision of his urine test.

Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein asked for authorities to be given the chance to investigate Rizalman's case, and cautioned against ‘punishing’ the suspect before he is proven guilty.

The National Anti-Drug Agency distanced itself from Rizalman, said he was not the chairperson of the Cheras drug rehabilitation committee, as was reported in the media.

Najib also announced that in July, all civil servants will receive a bonus salary increment – equivalent to one annual raise – at a total cost of RM1.46 billion.

The prime minister also asked BN to be given a strong mandate in the 14th general election to "make Malaysia great."

He added that he does not see the widely-predicted ‘Malay tsunami’ occurring in GE14.

The Singapore police, in a statement, said foreigners in Singapore are not allowed to campaign for their home countries’ political causes, alluding to Global Bersih.
