Bandar Tun Razak Umno division chief Rizalman Mokhtar said his only indulgence prior to his arrest at a nightclub on Monday morning was Nescafe and karaoke.

"I had coffee while my colleagues had soft drinks. There were no drugs. No hard liquor.

"That is why I wonder why my report, or early screening report, (came up) positive (for a drug).

"That is why I suspect that I was being trapped, but I don't know who (is behind it)," he told a press conference today.

Rizalman and his entire entourage were arrested at a nightspot along Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur, on Monday morning.

He is widely tipped to be BN's candidate for the Bandar Tun Razak seat. It is understood that he was busy campaigning on Sunday, up to late at night, and decided to unwind later.

After belting out two or three songs later, the authorities entered their private function room.

Rizalman (photo) said he was definitely a sober man at the time and expressed surprise that the drug screening reports implicated his entire entourage.

"Yes. All turned up positive. We drank the same beverages - coffee and soft drinks.

"I can say that I have been trapped because I don't take drugs. As far as I am concerned, I drank coffee or Nescafe.

"We only knew of the test results later... I was not intoxicated. There was nothing. I am very normal," he said.

Addressing several sceptical reporters, Rizalman said he was willing to take the reporters to the nightspot to prove that they were served non-alcoholic beverages.

Asked why didn't he have coffee at a mamak stall instead of a nightspot, Rizalman said: "I love to sing."

Rizalman is a former military man. He sits on the board of several GLCs and heads the Cheras Drug Rehabilitation Committee.
