The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) has denied that Umno leader Rizalman Mokhtar, who was recently arrested by police for suspected drug use, headed the Cheras drug rehabilitation committee.

In a statement issued today, the agency's media and corporate communications unit said the chairperson’s post was instead held by one Zainuddin Amran.

"Therefore, AADK would like to urge members of the public to not associate the said politician with the drug rehabilitation committee," read the statement, further urging anyone with further queries to contact its hotline at 03-89112423.

Following Rizalman's arrest on Monday morning, it was widely reported that apart from being the division chief of the Bandar Tun Razak Umno, he also chaired the Cheras drug rehabilitation committee and sat on the boards of several GLCs.

Earlier today, Rizalman held a press conference, in which he said his arrest was a “set up” by parties wanting to see his political downfall.

He claimed he only had Nescafe while belting out songs in a Kuala Lumpur karaoke joint prior to the raid.

The former military man also questioned the role of MACC in the raid.
