GE14 | Sabah DAP has named its first batch of candidates who will be fielded in the upcoming general election after settling seat negotiations with electoral pact partner Parti Warisan Sabah.

They are Sabah DAP secretary Chan Foong Hin for the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary seat, Sabah DAP publicity secretary Phoong Jin Zhe for the Luyang state seat, and Sabah DAP assistant secretary Tan Lee Fatt for the Likas state seat.

Sabah DAP chairperson Stephen Wong confirmed with Malaysiakini that seat negotiations with Warisan have been completed.

Stephen waved away questions on whether incumbent Likas state assemblyperson Junz Wong, who is also Warisan vice-president, had vacated the seat for DAP.

"In the seat negotiations with Warisan, Likas is DAP's seat. It is not relevant that Junz gave up the seat for us."

Junz won the seat as a DAP leader in the last general election. He left the party to join Warisan in October 2016.

Junz, meanwhile, confirmed that he will not be defending his seat.

He is, however, unsure whether he will be fielded as Warisan's candidate in either the Tanjung Kapor or Tanjong Aru state seat.

"Both are likely but I'm considering a few more factors before deciding in a couple of days," he said.
