GE14 | Rosmah Mansor has revealed that one of the reasons she started the Permata programme for children was because she wanted to teach them to be respectful, unlike PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah.

Speaking to women BN members in Lembah Pantai, whose incumbent MP is Nurul, the caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's wife said she knew the PKR leader since she was a child with no teeth.

“Now she can accuse me of 'macam-macam' (all sorts of things) on social media and she won't even call me Datin Seri Rosmah or Aunty Rosmah or Mak Cik Rosmah.

“She calls me (by my full name) Rosmah Mansor.

“[...] If it was you how would you feel? I am 65-years-old and she can call me Rosmah Mansor just like that... even a basic thing like this she can't be respectful,” she added.

Rosmah said she is upset with Nurul's behaviour and does not want the nation's youth to behave in the same manner.

“That's why I set up the Permata programme to teach children to respect their elders, parents and teachers. We need to go back to the basics because this moral value has been lost,” she added.

Shahrizat: Nurul ‘running away’

Earlier, Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Jalil also chided Nurul for not going for a third term in Lembah Pantai.

“Before even ending her term, the present people’s representative here is running away to another place because she is afraid.

“She knows that if she is the candidate this time, ku rasa mati lah (she will fail).

“At first she said she was the ‘puteri’ (princess) but after two terms people know she can’t do work. That’s why she is trying her chances in a safe seat,” Shahrizat said, referring to Nurul’s moniker “Puteri Reformasi”.

Back in 2008, Nurul unseated Shahrizat, then the constituency’s three-term MP, and later retained her seat in the 2013 elections.

She is not expected to seek a third term.

Expected to take her place is Lembah Pantai PKR Youth chief Fahmi Fadzil, who is set to face BN-Umno's Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and PAS' Fauzi Abu Bakar. 

Nong Chik played host to today's event. 

Nurul is widely speculated to contest either Pandan, which PKR won with the largest margin in the last election, or in her father’s seat of Permatang Pauh.
