GE14 | A group of about 50 people claiming to be PKR supporters staged a rally at the party's office in Seberang Jaya this afternoon, expressing their discontent with Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad using the party's logo in the 14th general election.

The group, led by one A Loganathan, said they were ashamed that the party leadership had given Mahathir the chance to use the PKR symbol.

"Mahathir was the reason why PKR was formed, the allegations of sodomy against PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was so serious, and yet, we let him use our logo?

"We won't support PKR and we will not come out to vote," said Loganathan, who claimed he was the PKR Batu Kawan vice-chief in 2008, and that he represented about 11,500 Indian members of the party.

Today's rally mirrors another one staged by another group, also claiming to be PKR supporters, outside the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya yesterday. The group had claimed to represent about 120,000 "disgruntled" members.

PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali had dismissed the protest, saying it was "irresponsible, irrelevant and disrespectful."

Today's rally in Penang was joined by the Penang Front Party, led by its chief Patrick Ooi, who said the party supported the protest against Mahathir.

"How can Mahathir save Malaysia? He couldn't even save himself from the Registrar of Societies suspending his party (temporarily), he could not stop them from preventing him from using his own logo, and he could not even save his shop The Loaf," said Ooi.

PKR Permatang Pauh security chief Talib Ibrahim, when met outside the party's office, said a police report had been lodged against the group.

"We do not know who they are, if they want to protest against the party, they should have met our leadership to explain why," said Talib.

Meanwhile, PKR national youth deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin accused today's protestors of being "Umno agents."
