GE14 | Selangor BN chairperson Noh Omar told voters in Taman Medan today to vote for the coalition in the 14th general election as a sign of their gratitude towards the government.

Speaking to about 300 residents of the Petaling Utama flat, the caretaker urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister said the government had spent about RM27 million on restoration works at residential flats in the area.

As such, he said, residents should be thankful for the help extended by the ministry.

"If there are those who are grateful to the government for approving the RM27 million, on May 9, go into the polling station, there will be three symbols.

"Don't think twice. Just put a cross next to the dacing symbol. That is the sign you all are thankful to the BN government, which has helped the people a lot," he said during his speech.

Also present was BN candidate for the Taman Medan state seat, Abdul Mutalif Abdul Rahim.

'Cheated' twice by Harapan

Noh, the incumbent Tanjong Karang MP, also asked residents to give BN a second chance since they have been "cheated" for two terms by the PKR-led Selangor government.

"Enough that you were cheated twice. Twice you voted for the opposition, what did you get?

"Nothing. That's why BN (is better) because although we lost, we still worked for the rakyat, looked after your welfare," he said.

Mutalif, who spoke to the Indian-majority crowd in Tamil, asked them to return Taman Medan to BN.

The seat is held by incumbent assemblyperson Hanifa Talha of PKR, who won it with a 3,731 majority in the 2013 polls.

Before the Election Commission's redelineation exercise, the state seat had a voter percentage of 60 percent Malays, 20 percent Chinese and 18 percent Indians.
