GE14 | PAS has distanced itself from the statement made by Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, the son of the late spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, against his brother Nik Omar yesterday.
In a statement today, the Islamist party's deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said any statement is deemed official only when it comes from the party's top leadership.
"PAS wishes to stress that only the party's top leadership's statements can be deemed official, while the party would not be held responsible for (statements from) others," he said.
Tuan Ibrahim's statement comes less than 24 hours after Nik Abduh, who is the candidate for the Bachok parliamentary seat, took to social media to voice out against his brother.
Nik Omar is standing in their late father's old Chempaka state seat in the 14th general election, under an Amanah ticket.
Nik Abduh had said that their mother Tuan Sabariah Tuan Ishak will campaign for PAS in the Chempaka, and that she had suffered a "second shot to the heart" after Nik Omar's candidacy was confirmed during nomination day last Saturday.
“Mothers are the towers in our lives. Don’t talk about the father if the mother is not by his side.
“Who are we without mothers? Just wasted semen tossed aside,” he had said.

Excessive attacks unwarranted
Tuan Ibrahim stressed that Nik Abduh's statement only represents his family's stance.
"His (Nik Omar's) act of contesting under Pakatan Harapan's ticket is his choice, and business alone, which does not need to be exaggerated.
"PAS thinks any excessive attack towards him is unwarranted," he said, adding that in Malaysia's democratic system, individuals are free to choose any political party they like.
Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim warned PAS members and supporters to be wary of the "psychological warfare" and fake news deliberately spread around to the masses.
"In the open social media sphere, psychological warfare will continue to prosper and will be used to deceive the rakyat and to convince them to reject political rivals.
"For instance, it is nor impossible if there are 'enemies' pretending to be a PAS supporter, who deliberately release a statement, but it is not really from a PAS member."
