The hearing of Pakatan Harapan's judicial review application against the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to compel ROS to register it as a formal coalition has now been fixed on July 12.

The case will be heard at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur before Justice Azizah Nawawi.

The High Court deputy registrar announced the date when the matter came up for case management today.

Harapan's lawyers Michelle Ng and Joanne Chua confirmed the date when contacted by Malaysiakini.

At the last session on April 5, the hearing on merits of the case was postponed after Harapan lawyers indicated that they would file a contempt proceeding against ROS director-general Surayati Ibrahim who earlier in the day announced that a component of the coalition, Bersatu, had been served with a Section 14(5) notice under the Societies Act for temporary dissolution.

However, Chua said they have yet to file the contempt papers and will proceed with the hearing.

It was reported that several Harapan leaders - namely chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution, Bersatu secretary-general Shaharuddin Md Salleh, and Amanah assistant secretary Abang Ahmad Kerdee Abang Masagus - filed for a judicial review against the ROS for its failure to respond to their application to be registered as a formal coalition.

It was reported on March 1 that Justice Azizah granted leave to Harapan to challenge the ROS decision in not replying to the Harapan's application made in July.

They want the ROS to reply to their application or for the Harapan coalition to be formally registered.
