The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has lifted the temporary dissolution order imposed on Bersatu and approved Pakatan Harapan's registration as a formal coalition.

In a statement today, the Home Ministry said the order on Bersatu was lifted after considering the information that was provided by the party in its appeal against the order.

"In view of this, the application to register Pakatan Harapan has also been approved in accordance with Section 7 of the Societies Act 1966 on May 16.

"Therefore, Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan are now able to conduct their activities in line with their objectives and constitutions," said the ministry.

In a related development, Home Ministry secretary-general Alwi Ibrahim today delivered Pakatan Harapan's certificate of registration to coalition leader Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Bersatu headquarters this morning.

This marked a close to Harapan's 10-month struggle to have Harapan formally registered as a coalition.

Harapan's application to the ROS was first submitted in July last year, but it was held up on grounds that coalition members DAP and Bersatu had yet to fulfil certain ROS requirements.

Days before Parliament was dissolved, the ROS issued the temporary dissolution order on Bersatu, prompting accusations that the move was politically motivated.

Following this, the coalition participated in the 14th general election using component party PKR's logo as their common symbol and ousted BN from power.
