The Tabung Haji board has confirmed that it received Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim's resignation as chairperson of the board.
The letter was submitted yesterday.
"The board would like to express gratitude to Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim for his service as board member and chairperson," said the board in a statement today.
Azeez, who reportedly enjoyed close links with former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, was a Tabung Haji board member in 2011 and promoted to chairperson in 2013.
In 2015, Tabung Haji had bought 1.56 acres of land at the Tun Razak Exchange - a project by 1MDB - for RM188.5 million or approximately RM2,779 per square foot.
At the time, Tabung Haji was accused of bailing out 1MDB which was facing cash flow problems.
Although Azeez claimed that they would dispose of the land on Najib's advice, this was not followed through.
Azeez is presently under investigation by the MACC although the allegations against him have yet to be revealed.
The graftbuster had reportedly seized RM500,000 in cash at one of his homes.
