Right-wing Malay movement Perkasa has threatened to act aggressively against anyone deemed to have insulted the monarchy.

In a statement today, Perkasa's Islamic affairs bureau chairperson Amini Amir Abdullah warned all quarters to act with decorum and be loyal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the institution of Malay rulers.

This came after veteran newsman and Bersatu supreme council member A Kadir Jasin, in a posting in his blog about the appointment of Tommy Thomas as the new attorney-general, also revealed the expenses of the Agong.

"Perkasa is deeply concerned with the latest scenario, with the details of personal expenses and management of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong going viral and demands made to abolish the monarchy as well as the proposal to turn the country into a republic," Amini said.

"Perkasa believes this is done to tarnish the credibility and competency of the institution of Malay rulers following the appointment of Tommy Thomas," he added.

It is rude and unethical to call for the abolition of monarchy and turn the country into a republic, he said.

Amini questioned if there was bad intention behind the act of spreading the expenditure details of the Agong and calling to abolish the monarchy.

"Does the Pakatan Harapan government also want the rakyat to fight the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the institution of Malay rulers?" he asked.

Such mafia-like political games have caused many non-Malays to come out openly to criticise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Malay rulers, especially in the social media, using improper language against them, Amini said.

Commenting on the controversy surrounding the appointment of constitutional expert Thomas, Kadir (photo) had said in his blog posting that the rulers should be confident and assured about their position, since they are "lavishly provided for."

Kadir said a total of RM256.9 million had been allocated to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong from January 2017 to April 2018.

This was for the purposes of accommodation, residence and palace, personal items, aircraft and transportation, training and escort equipment, clothing and ceremonial items, gifts and souvenirs, overseas visits and salaries of palace staff.

'Over our dead bodies'

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he has not seen the article written by Kadir but said the government would review the matter.

According to the Treasury, the government only allocates RM13.5 million annually for the Agong.

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said it would be unhealthy to give such "disparaging remarks" without first giving the opportunity for the ruler to clarify.

"Perkasa warns all quarters to behave with decorum and be loyal to the rulers. Why allege and insult His Majesty for receiving bribe to reject the appointment of the attorney-general and delay the swearing-in of Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the new prime minister," Amini said.

Amini added: "Perkasa gives a stern warning to those who behave rudely. We will act aggressively.

"We call upon all Malays to rise and express their support as well as undivided loyalty to the Yang-di-Pertuan Agong and the institution of Malay rulers.

"Don't disturb the Yang-di-Pertuan Agong. Over our dead bodies!"
