A police report has been lodged against what is perceived to be death threats on social media against Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming and Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong.

Keranji assemblyperson Chong Zhemin, who lodged the report at the Ipoh district police headquarters this morning, cited criminal intimidation and claimed a Facebook user, known only as 'Jing Hong', made the threats.

Chong said the person uploaded a picture with the images of Nga, Liew and a pistol, with the caption: "Both of you from Pakatan Harapan make me mad, you both wait, I will kill you, both of you will accompany Teoh Beng Hock."

Teoh, the late political aide to Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead after falling nine floors from MACC's previous Selangor headquarters in 2009, where he had been held overnight for interrogation.

"I urge the police to immediately investigate the real identity of this Facebook user.

"This posting is a form of criminal intimidation and goes against Section 506 of the Penal Code, which is punishable up to seven years in jail, a fine or both (upon conviction)," Chong said in a statement today.

He also called upon the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate and help identify the user, adding that he would also be lodging a separate report with the commission.

"I urge netizens to be rational when making Facebook postings and not to go against any law," he added.
