Parliamentary opposition leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he has yet to receive any official offer to be appointed as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson.

Regardless, he said, he will first have to discuss the matter with his partners in the opposition bloc.

"I will have a discussion with my friends in BN and PAS who are now in the opposition bloc.

"And because I have only read the media reports but have not received any official (offer) letter, I will only take action after Parliament protocols have been observed," Zahid, who is the Bagan Datuk MP, told reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat today.

He said he had to discuss the matter with his partners in the opposition as his position as opposition leader was not an autocratic one, he said.

It was reported earlier today that Zahid was being considered as the PAC chairperson.

De facto law minister Liew Vui Keong had said only one person was being considered for the role and it was up to Zahid to accept the post.

The PAC chairperson is traditionally from the government while the deputy would be from the opposition.
