The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) said today it is ready for local government elections which the Pakatan Harapan federal government proposes to hold in three years.

Its president, Noraini Roslan, said MPSJ would prepare itself from now and would hold the elections if the federal government decided so.

She spoke to reporters after the swearing-in of MPSJ councillors for the 2018-2020 term here. She was asked to comment on the proposal by the Pakatan Harapan government to hold local government elections in three years.

On May 26, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said many reports and issues had to be studied to find the best mechanism to ensure that these elections could be held.

Noraini said 24 MPSJ councillors had been appointed, 10 of them new faces, for the term beginning July to Dec 31, 2020.
