Opcom Holdings Bhd, whose chairperson and CEO is Mokhzani Mahathir, bagged an RM11.16 million contract from Telekom Malaysia (TM) just days after the 14th general election.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia today, Opcom said it had accepted a letter of award for the 'Rakan Unifi' contract on May 14.

The contract, which runs from July 2 this year until Dec 31, 2019, is for the installation and restoration of Unifi services.

"The award is expected to contribute positively towards Opcom Group's earnings and net assets for the period of the award," the company said in the Bursa filing.

Mokhzani's brother, Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir, founded Opcom and holds 25.2 percent of the company's shares.

Opcom, however, said in its statement that "none of the directors and substantial shareholders of Opcom and/or subsidiaries or any persons connected to them have any interest, direct or indirect, in the (Rakan Unifi contract) award."

According to The Star, Opcom shares have surged 135 percent since May, and at Tuesday closed at 94 sen.
