The three commandos who continued to serve former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein after he was no longer in office have been ordered to report back to the Armed Forces (ATM).

“Yes, they have been given orders to report back to ATM,” said Hishamuddin's successor Mohamad Sabu, according to news reports.

Previously, the minister ordered the Armed Forces to conduct an investigation following Malaysiakini's report that the three commandos continued to work for Hishammuddin after the May 9 general election.

Yesterday, Hishammuddin tweeted that the three have informed him of their decision to quit.

"They have informed me of their decision to terminate their terms of service.

“Nevertheless, if they have conducted themselves improperly, I am sure ATM will investigate this matter thoroughly.

"We will abide by any decision made according to the rules and regulations prescribed," Hishammuddin added.

After Malaysiakini highlighted the matter, Hishammuddin had said the three were serving him on a temporary basis.

The former minister also said he has offered the commandos to work with him, which they can only accept if they resigned from the Armed Forces.
