PKR POLLS | The invalidation of the results for the PKR polls in Kedah has been put down to inexperience in handling the new e-voting system. 

"It was because of the human factor, I would say.

"You must understand, it is our first time using this new voting system," PKR elections committee secretary Ismail Yusop said to Malaysiakini today.

According to Ismail, there was an insufficient technical support to handle the polls in PKR's Kedah divisions, which caused delays, long lines and eventually, chaotic scenes.

He insisted, however, that the election committee remains undeterred, and are currently discussing how to manage the system better.

Following the commotions in Kedah and Penang, four other states had its party elections postponed, namely Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Perlis.

Although the committee has yet to set a new polling date for these five states, Ismail said, elections in the remaining states will proceed on schedule. 

The election will resume with the party's Johor divisions voting on Sunday. 

The PKR party polls, which started last Saturday, have been plagued by numerous issues, primarily complaints about the new voting system.

This year is the first time PKR is using e-voting for its party polls. It remains the only party to allow all of its members to cast ballots.
