Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is scheduled to meet Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and British Prime Minister Theresa May separately at the sidelines of the UN general assembly (UNGA) in New York this week.
The meeting with Hassan is scheduled for tomorrow, soon after Mahathir touches down from London.
According to Bernama, Mahathir and Hassan are expected to discuss the situation in West Asia.
On Wednesday, Mahathir is scheduled to meet May. The two leaders are expected to exchange views on the global economy, Brexit and Malaysia's economic progress.
Mahathir has been on a working visit to London since Aug 22. However, the meeting with May is arranged to be held in New York.
Mahathir is also scheduled to meet Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al Thani and Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena.
According to Bernama, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said there have been many requests by other nations for a meeting with Mahathir during the UNGA, which will take place from Sept 25 to 29.
Mahathir will address the UNGA on Friday. His last speech at the UNGA was on Sept 25, 2003 - a month prior to his first retirement as prime minister.
