A straw poll by Malaysiakini suggested that independent candidate Mohd Isa Samad may give Pakatan Harapan candidate Anwar Ibrahim a run for his money in Malay areas.

Lim said Najib's decision to get his aide to do so was "theatrical" while accusing the latter of frequently indulging in other theatrics involving his family.

Najib criticised Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad for "spinning" because it was the latter that granted "lopsided" highway contracts and was now blaming the previous government for toll charges.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was questioned for almost eight hours at the MACC headquarters. This was the fifth time he was being questioned by the graft-busters.

Bersatu strategist said Pakatan Harapan's manifesto was a "great responsibility" but some of the pledges require recalibration.
