PKR POLLS | Incumbent Malacca PKR chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin claims to have detected at least one incident of money politics in the state party elections.

Shamsul said he received a report that a division committee candidate in Tangga Batu had handed out RM50 to members to secure votes.

“I received a report on the matter (on Friday) and I can tell you with all earnestness, we will thoroughly investigate the matter.

“If the claims are proven to be true, we will bring the matter to the MACC," the deputy primary industries minister was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times today.

Allegations of money politics have plagued the PKR election.

On Monday, PKR deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli had warned that money was being distributed to buy votes in the party election.

Rafizi claimed that some were also being promised projects in return for votes.

Azmin Ali, who is being challenged by Rafizi for the deputy president position, had also responded on the matter.

Azmin had advised young leaders to emulate the party founders who had struggled for 20 years without having to resort to money or power.
