Yoursay: Zahid, stop insulting LGBTs in your fatherland

YOURSAY | 'I shudder to think this man almost became our PM.'

Zahid: LGBT activities brought on earthquake, tsunami at Palu

Ferdtan: LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) activities are accepted and tolerated in most Western nations.

From Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's logic about earthquake and tsunami, the huge numbers of victims, running to thousands (Aceh and now Palu), are from majority Muslim Indonesia.

Zahid and most Muslims don't accept LGBT, so why did God punish them instead of countries that are open to LGBT? Is God playing a cruel joke?

Undecided: Zahid said this (that LGBT activities brought on earthquake and tsunami in Palu) in a follow-up to his oral question in Parliament on what the government's stance on LGBT was.

It is so obvious that Zahid is using LGBT to deflect the destructive and more serious issue of corruption in Malaysia which he is has been charged with.

Personal moral failings relating to sexual matters cannot be more serious than corruption, which can affect the lives of millions adversely.

The Islamic authorities and clerics should focus more on combating corruption than on sexual indiscretions.

Anonymous 7478653098613829: Indeed, anyone who is deemed an LBGT but does not steal has more integrity and moral than a person facing 45 charges of corruption, criminal breach of trust and money laundering.

It is just too bad there is no crime for lying, or else this ex-DPM should also be charged for that when there is no charity work being carried out by the so-called Yayasan Akal Budi.

It looks like an accused facing 45 charges still has the audacity to talk about moral values of other people without feeling any personal shame.

The other thing to note is that the ex-DPM seems to know how God thinks. Since he knows how God thinks, maybe he can explain why 75,000 people were affected when there were only 1,000 who were said to be involved in LGBT activities?

He should be the last person to talk about God, having being charged with multiple crimes. Why doesn’t he also think that he was being punished by God for stealing money when arrested? Instead he tried to sell the warped logic that his arrest is a test from God.

SpiritOfMalaysia: We feel for the many people of Palu and the victims of numerous earthquakes in Indonesia. They definitely do not deserve such crap from this klep(tocrat).

Anonymous 1802761448130592: Just because we are blessed to be born ‘normal’ does not endow on us the right to discriminate and condemn these less fortunate souls.

Compassion and understanding should be shown, instead of inflicting further pain and suffering on those fellow humans who were unfortunate enough to be born as such.

Retributions will come to those who scorn them in the form of LBGTs landing on their family trees. Then, and only then, will these foolish ones understand that like any fruit trees, there are naturally, hanging on some branches, a few fruits that look and taste different from the rest.

If we can show compassion for the physically and mentally handicapped, can't we at the very least show a little understanding for the sexually 'challenged'?

AdiChan: It is about time the leaders of Malaysia educate themselves about the origins of LBGT. More recent scientific studies have made it clear that such inclinations and preferences are inherent in the person. It is not the result of choices made.

LBGT individuals have no choice in what they are. Since they are made that way by Allah, fellow human beings, religion and the state should treat them with understanding, decency and fairness.

They are not criminals who cheat, lie and steal, unlike some political leaders.

Vijay47: Obviously Zahid and former PM Najib Razak smoke the same stuff as they meet to reminisce about the good old days when the rupiah was truly king.

And Zahid’s latest contribution to the enhancement of mankind’s knowledge, this time with regard to seismology, is that the movement of tectonic plates along geologic faults are caused by the conduct of certain members of a given sexual persuasion.

This is surely an earth-shaking discovery. Considering that you yourself have been experiencing major upheavals and disasters with more earthquakes to hit you shortly,

Zahid, is your latest revelation a tacit acknowledgement that you also are of the LBGT community?

Anonymous 2413471460628504: So what sinful things have Umno been indulging in that God punished them by making them lose power in Malaysia?

Kevin: Clearly, this is a man with no heart and no conscience. Here, we have a so-called leader, pointing the blame squarely at God.

He should at least have prayed for, and help the Palu people instead, for they are victims suffering the effects of the massive earthquake.

Anonymous 1890491455255851: What a pathetic excuse of a human being. And he was voted to be Umno president? This sounds like the ranting of a demented person. He needs treatment.

I hope Indonesians will clobber him for coming to such a horrendous and deplorable conclusion to such a devastating tragedy.

Gerard Lourdesamy: And I suppose the greed, avarice, arrogance, immorality, corruption and kleptocracy of the former Umno/BN government brought the wrath of God upon them causing their defeat in GE14?

Even the Indonesian government never knew that Palu in Sulawesi was a hotbed for LGBT activity. Then, what about the tsunami that hit Aceh in 2004, despite their Taliban-inspired form of Islamic piety?

Did God make a mistake when He misdirected the tsunami?

Ipohcrite: After hearing Zahid's latest statement, I felt terribly ashamed and somewhat enraged that an ex-deputy prime minister of our beloved country could even countenance such bizarre thoughts, let alone state them with such stinging conviction.

Thank God, the voters in GE14 had wisely thrown out the Umno-led BN and replaced it with the Pakatan Haparan government.

I shudder to think what might have happened otherwise, if the likes of Zahid were still helming important posts in government.

Guyintheglass: Yes, I shudder to think this man almost became our PM. My apologies to our neighbours for this insensitive remark.

Anonymous 770241447347646: God does not harm anyone or make them suffer for the sins of others. This is basic common sense.

Please tell your fairy tales to your grandchildren. God is not unjust. Man is.
