Umno defectors are only 'flies who look for garbage and faeces', says Zahid
Umno MPs who left the party after its May 9 defeat are only political 'langau' (green flies) who like to be around garbage and faeces, said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Speaking to party members in Kuala Lumpur today, the Umno president also labeled the defectors as cowards and opportunists.
"These people are political langau who surely would be looking for garbage and faeces to perch on. I would express my appreciation as we have 52 other MPs (in Barisan Nasional) who are not willing to be like this...

Speaking to party members in Kuala Lumpur today, the Umno president also labeled the defectors as cowards and opportunists.
"These people are political langau who surely would be looking for garbage and faeces to perch on. I would express my appreciation as we have 52 (sic) other MPs (in Barisan Nasional) who are not willing to be like this.
"Because they are langau who looks for garbage and faeces, so let them be. But do not bring the odour into Umno," he told the hundreds of Federal Territories Umno members during its event at Putra World Trade Centre.
BN currently has 51 MPs, after defections left Umno with just 48 lawmakers.
Zahid said Umno MPs who left the party were also scared of being impeached after seeing their comrades being hauled up by authorities and charged in court.
This, Zahid claimed, was because the MPs were themselves dirty.
"Other people were investigated, dragged to court, but they were the ones to be scared. It is the character of a langau to be a coward.
"Why should they be scared? If we are clean, why should they be afraid?,” he added.
Zahid said the defectors were also hoping for new opportunities by joining the ruling faction, but would only ended up being used.
He added that they must remember that Pakatan Harapan had been the opposition for 60 years, and their leaders would surely give their own members priority for government positions.
"We must remember that they (ruling party) were the opposition for 60 years ... there are also who waited for 40 years, and some people spent (the past) 20 years in and out of prison.
"They had been hungry for a long time. Their friends too. And suddenly (the former Umno MPs) want to join them and become a minister?"
