Who is your teacher, Najib jabs '9.95' Maszlee

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak took another potshot at Education Minister Maszlee Malik over the latter's rating of himself in an interview with Malaysiakini.

Maszlee, who gave himself “9.95 of 10”, said the rating was for how well he is learning the ropes and not for his performance as a minister for the past six months.

In a Facebook posting, Najib asked his readers for their rating of the minister.

“What score will you give him? If he knew his worth in the eyes of the people, he won't be peaceful and he would once again play the Linkin Park song again tonight,” he said.

This was in reference to Maszlee posting the lyrics of a melancholic Linkin Park song titled 'Numb' on his Instagram account on Nov 27.

Meanwhile, Najib also pointed to the issues which had courted the minister negative press and questioned who was tutoring him.

“Maszlee says he is still learning. Shoes, socks, swimming. What is he learning and who is his teacher?” he asked.

“It's okay, to be paid tens of thousands a month to learn. Who would not want that and what is wrong? Comfortable.

“Until today, we do not know what is his positive contribution to the education system, parents, students and undergraduates.

“But Maszlee, it is good that you are willing to learn. Insya-Allah (God willing), there may come a time when we share our opinions and suggestions,” he added.

In the interview with Malaysiakini, Maszlee said he has learned a plethora of new things over the past six months but conceded that the learning curve was steep.

Most of all, the minister said, he has learned that there is still much to do and sacrifice for the sake of the country's future.
