S'gor DAP ousts Tony Pua

Damansara MP Tony Pua was ousted in the Selangor DAP election.

 His protege Hannah Yeoh said Pua was ousted for pushing fresh faces as candidates in the last general election.

Pua, who is the outgoing Selangor DAP chief, touted the party's inroads in Malay-majority areas during the last general election in his speech at the Selangor DAP convention.

Controversial businesspersons donate to Harapan

Controversial businesspersons such as Stanley Thai and Deepak Jaikishan were among the donors at Pakatan Harapan's fundraising dinner last night.

 Apart from raising money from auctions, the fundraising dinner also raised RM1.67 million from selling tables at the event.

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim criticised Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar for insisting that the status of Johor's Pulau Kukup as a national park must be retained.

Kit Siang weighs in on anti-Icerd rally

DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said the peaceful rally against International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) was a win for a New Malaysia that respected freedom of assembly, but added that it was also a setback for Pakatan Harapan as a political coalition.

Police will summon the organisers of the anti-Icerd rally over the presence of children at the event.

DAP Youth urged the government to step up human rights education in schools following the objections to Icerd.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad made the right call by not attending the Human Rights Commission's (Suhakam) Human Rights Day celebration.

Suhakam chairperson Razali Ismail stressed that human rights are not inconsistent with religion.
