Yoursay: No Muslim outrage over Tabung Haji mismanagement?

YOURSAY | 'I wonder if the same creative accounting is happening in other funds.'

Mujahid confirms Tabung Haji’s RM4.1bil deficit; Bank Negara to step in

Panorama123: Tabung Haji deposits are fully guaranteed by the government and they have paid dividends beyond their means in contravention of the law. Those in complicit must be held fully responsible and accountable.

There should have been limits set in respect of deposits as the main purpose of Tabung Haji is supposedly to help Muslims fulfil their haj.

The government must quickly review other funds that continue to pay exceptional double-digit dividends, as this is akin to operating a “Ponzi scheme”.

Justiceforall: It appears that crooks are not rebuked or reprimanded, let alone prosecuted for criminal breach of trust. The silence of PAS and Umno stalwarts is a testament to this astonishing demonstration of mercy and grace.

All the top leaders of the previous regime need to do is to drum up the emotions of their race and keep them under a siege mentality while syphoning off millions and billions from the coffers from beneath their noses.

Keep telling the Malays that their race and religion are under threat and the crooks can carry on stealing.

My only hope is that the younger and more educated Malays will see through this deception and open the eyes of their elders.

OKYOKYOKY: The thousands of people who made the effort to attend the Umno-PAS rally have just been made to look like fools. Seriously, nothing was sacred to the Umno government. It’s rotten to the core.

National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers need to look no further as to why there is no free money for them nowadays.

Meerkat: There is a name for this kind of scheme. In old auditing textbooks, it's called teeming and lading. The contemporary name is Ponzi. It is haram, not only for the reason that the name Ponzi is a Western term.

And the alleged perpetrator? Not that man again! This time with former Tabung Haji chairperson Abdul Azeez Rahim for company. Both Umno bigwigs.

And PAS was just ‘in bed’ with Umno last Saturday. Not that PAS didn't know that this was in the pipeline.

Or, to be more precise, the PAS leadership probably knew about this but they thought nothing of it when getting their supporters out on the streets on religious grounds last Saturday.

JusticeNow!: PKR leader Rafizi Ramli was right. Tabung Haji has become a pyramid scheme!

The sad thing is that the pakcik and makcik depositors would not understand and will continue to believe what PAS and Umno tell them. They will still be manipulated by them and some will even cycle 200km to join their rally.

Everyone is hoping for the younger generation to turn the tide but when you look at Facebook comments, I don't see much hope that this will happen.

Newday: Interesting that liabilities start increasing over assets at about the same time that 1MDB was running into trouble with its increasing debt issues.

Is this another case of pilfering from one thing to pay for the other? "Robbing Peter to pay Paul," as the old saying goes. It does appear so.

Nonymous_1529214566: Please conduct a similar review of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Social Security Organisation (Socso), Armed Forces Fund (LTAT), Khazanah Nasional, Bank Rakyat, Bank Pembangunan and so on.

Zzz: If PAS and Umno organise a rally against corruption, I am sure all Malaysians will take part. I am only worried the corrupt fellows would not dare turn up.

Auditor's review: Tabung Haji paid dividends using depositor’s savings

Vijay47: Tabung Haji, established to care for Muslim pilgrims – looted by Muslims. Felda, established to assist Malay oil palm settlers – robbed by Malays. Mara, established to help Malays and bumiputeras – plundered by Malays.

And in the sidelines, 1MDB, established for national purposes unknown – ransacked by 1Malay and 1Chinaman. Yet there is no widespread anger and outrage from the very Muslims and Malays who have been cheated by their supposed protectors and defenders.

Instead, they gather in droves to protest against some possible change which could have brought them dignity and kept them safe from brigands.

Of course, PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang, and Umno leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi may organise another rally, but this time against that Jewish LGBT organisation, PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Their strategy in business must be seen to be disbelieved – sell low and make a profit, the gain being credited into the books, buy high and suffer a loss, the deficit lost into thin air.

So what do former Mara chairperson Annuar Musa, former Felda chairperson Isa Samad and former Tabung Haji chairperson Azeez Abdul Rahim have to say about all this?

Yes, I know, this was all done to defend race, religion, the rulers and the Johor national park.

Kawak: Rafizi was sued by Tabung Haji for claiming there were two years that the board had negative deficit that would not allow it to declare dividend. This is creative accounting by Tabung Haji to cheat the depositors who are all Muslims.

Is DAP or the Chinese responsible for this cheating? And yet, Umno leaders and PAS are shouting to defend the Malays and Islam. What a joke!

Serembanpau: I wonder if the same “creative accounting” is happening in Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), Amanah Saham Berhad (ASB), ASB Wawasan 2020 and ASB 1Malaysia funds.

The fund managers in PNB must be the best around as they have been declaring dividends of around nine percent yearly for ASB and more than six percent for non-bumi entitled funds yearly.

As an investor in some of these funds, I hope everything is above board.

Anonymous 2456541485523213: I am thinking of pulling out my money and investing elsewhere. This merely shows that Tabung Haji is being managed unprofessionally.

OKYOKYOKY: Really damning disclosure if this is true - selling and buying back shares which have gained in value with the purpose of accounting only. No cash gains because money was used to buy back the same shares. Only transaction fees incurred.

The actions of a few have totally undermined the efforts of thousands.
