Entrepreneur Development Minister Redzuan Yusof has denied Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad’s claim that Qatar was interested to invest in Malaysia’s third national car.

“Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) did mention they are interested to invest in this country, but (there was) no specific mention of this (national car) project.

“I don’t know where he (Khalid) got the source from but I think what the QIA is saying is that they have a lot of funds to invest in this country,” Redzuan said to reporters after attending an event in Cyberjaya today.

Yesterday, Khalid had said that an “individual from Qatar” was interested to invest in Malaysia, as well as in the third national car project.

Mahathir had earlier mooted the idea of a third national car project.

The cabinet had agreed with the condition that it cannot involve government funds.

The prime minister had also previously said there were those from the private sector who were interested in investing in the project.
