Kuantan police have solved a six-month-old case of vehicle windows being broken by someone shooting marbles at them. On Wednesday, police arrested a 56-year-old man believed to be involved in the incidents.

Kuantan police chief ACP Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said the suspect was nabbed in his house in Bukit Setongkol after the latest victim lodged a police report with the registration number of the vehicle used by the suspect.

“Inspection found that the white SUV owned by the suspect matched the (description in the) report made by the victim.

“Police also found four unopened boxes of plastic marbles and a catapult believed used by the suspect in several incidents around Jalan Wong Ah Jang, Jalan Kampung Tengah, Jalan Kampung Jawa and Jalan Haji Junid here,” he said.

He told reporters this at the Kuantan police headquarters today.

Mohamad Noor said upon questioning, the suspect admitted to his involvement in shooting incidents as he felt he was being followed by people, which caused him to shoot at the suspected vehicles.

“Initial police investigations found the suspect had borrowed from an illegal moneylender and ruled out the possibility that the suspect has mental health problems,” he said.

The suspect was remanded for five days until Dec 23 to assist investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of two years or a fine or both.

Since June, there were 12 cases of vehicles being damaged. They were reportedly shot with marbles between 7pm to midnight.
