Follow PM's lead and chase down corrupt officials, TI-M tells gov't

“TI-M is of the view that Harapan is doing very well, but it looks like only Mahathir is the one chasing down those involved in corruption,” Akhbar said at a conference to announce Malaysia's ranking on the 2018 Corruption Perception Index (CPI).
“We hope to see all other ministers and ministries show to the public that they also are anti-corruption.
"Especially in the case of procurement, the government should make sure that contracts are only given to those who are deserving. There should be no more direct negotiation.”
Commending the government for investigating the 1MDB, Felda, Mara and Lembaga Tabung Haji scandals, Akhbar also cautioned Putrajaya to avoid selective prosecution.
This is an important step to restore public trust in the judicial system, he said, adding that the prosecution of corrupt officials is one of the measurables that determine CPI rankings.
Some have even been hit with court charges, most notably former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, and former Tabung Haji chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
In the CPI rankings released today, Malaysia again scored 47 points, but saw itself move up a spot to 61 of 180 countries.
The ranking puts Malaysia third among Southeast Asian countries on the index, behind Singapore and Brunei.

One of the most powerful organisation in the world now is SPRM. It is really frightening how their investigation officers tries to get convictions. What is more frightening is that SPRM convicts a suspect even before a person is charged in court by making suspects wear orange lokap shirts. Irreparable damage is done to the Rakyat even before the case is investigated or convicted. At the end of the case even if the accused is not charged or is acquitted irreparable damage has been done. Is this the New Malaysia?? Is this the integrity that New Malaysia is looking at the expense of fighting graft? The other institution that requires serious reforms in the prosecution department is the Securities Commission whose officers are overzealous to get a conviction !!
