Khalil: PAS won't clash with Umno again in future elections

Khalil claimed that in the event of straight fights, the current governments in Putrajaya and Selangor would fall.
Speaking to reporters later, he explained that there has been an agreement between PAS and Umno to avoid each other during elections since the Sungai Kandis by-election last August.
"God willing, straight fights (for the next general election)," he said.
The ceramah also featured Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Berjasa Youth chief Iqbal Hakim Abdul Razak and Ikatan Youth chief Shahir Adnan.
Expedite establishment
As Asyraf told the ceramah audience, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had said in a meeting between leaders of both parties that the establishment of the joint committee should be expedited.
"PAS has prepared nine people, led by their deputy president. They are asking for the same number from Umno.
"Right after the Semenyih by-election, we will sit down together and form the committee. We will work towards the next general election.
"We will serve as one strong block aimed at defeating Harapan. There will not be three-cornered fights that do not benefit Islam," he said.
PAS' allegiance is becoming increasingly vague after the party president Abdul Hadi Awang pledged to support Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Parliament.
Although both parties have an informal electoral pact, its lawmakers sit on opposite sides in the legislative assemblies of Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis.
When asked by reporters if Hadi would be joining the Semenyih campaign, Khalil said he did not know.
"You'll have to ask his political secretary," he said.
