SEMENYIH POLLS | Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan rued that Malays have been sidelined in their land following the 14th general election.
"The people who should be landlords have become squatters in the small house in the backyard.
"Those who were previously 'penumpang' (squatters), clinging to the legs of our nation's fighters asking to live alongside us in our homeland, now live in the big house,” he added.
It is believed that Mohamad, who is also known as Tok Mat, was referring to the number of non-Malays in the Dewan Rakyat.
Under BN, Umno MPs formed the bulk of government lawmakers. In the Pakatan Harapan administration, 66 of the 134 lawmakers are non-Malays.
Umno and PAS have been peddling the narrative that the current federal government has failed to safeguard Malay-Muslim interests.
Meanwhile, Mohamad, who was speaking at a ceramah in Semenyih last night, insisted that he is not racist.
"I am not racist, and have never been racist," he stressed.
The former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar argued that there is nothing wrong with Malays becoming united.
"Don't be worried when Malays unite, it would not bring harm to the nation or other races.
"It has been proven that for 60 years, the Malays, especially from Umno, governed the nation through BN where people of all races lived in peace and harmony," he added.
Mohamad was campaigning for BN candidate Zakaria Hanafi, who would be attempting to re-capture the Malay-majority state seat from Harapan in tomorrow's by-election.
