Twenty-two 'tomyam' eateries ordered to close, spruce up

A cleanliness operation mounted against 50 eateries offering tomyam meals in Seremban city yesterday resulted in 22 of them being ordered to close for 14 days to spruce up their premises.

The Ops Tomyam operation also saw the issuing of 156 notices involving fines amounting to RM42,450, Negeri Sembilan Health, Environment, Cooperatives and Consumerism Committee chairman S Veerapan said today.

He said the operation, from 4pm to 11.30pm, was conducted by nine teams of 60 health enforcement officers.

Veerapan said the offences included the freezer of refrigerators not kept to the right temperature and storing food for too long.

This year, up to March, 1,417 eateries in Negeri Sembilan were inspected and 14 of them were ordered to close for not having met the specifications on cleanliness.
