The cafeteria at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang has been ordered to close for 15 days from today following reports of unhygienic practices during food preparation.

Selangor Health Department director Dr Zailan Adnan said the order was issued ccording to Section 11 of the Food Act 1983.

The closure notice was issued by the Klang District Health Office (PKD) at 2 pm following an inspection carried out after the 32-second video clip showing a rat feasting in a vegetable container at the cafeteria went viral on social media.

“The PKD will carry out a thorough investigation into the case,” Dr Zailan told Bernama in Shah Alam today.

She said the cafeteria may resume its operations earlier if it undertook an immediate clean-up operation and if the PKD is satisfied with the level of cleanliness in the premises.
