Malaysia is not ruling out the possibility of bidding to organise the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang world cup, which will be held in a Southeast Asian country.

However, the developer of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game has not revealed the actual date for the world championship, and whether it will take place before or after the Sea Games in the Philippines at the end of the year.

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said if the tournament will indeed be organised, his ministry will try as hard as possible to bring it to Malaysia.

"If possible, we will try our level best, I will check with the Youth and Sports Ministry and National Sports Council teams, and also e-sports associations.

‘"Indeed, if possible we want to bring the World Cup to Malaysia," he said after launching the Selangor Level People’s Housing Project Sports programme at the Lembah Subang Dua PPR today.

It was reported prior to this that the organiser of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang world cup was undecided on the official name of the championship, which would involve four regions – the United States, South America, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is an online multiplayer mobile video game which was developed and published by Moonton in 2016.

It is one of six e-sports categories to be contested at the Sea Games in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq also said that he wants three sports associations still owing money to the Olympic Council of Malaysia to settle their debts quickly without interference from the ministry,

"I have yet to receive any feedback from OCM or the associations in question on the matter, but I am informed that both sides are negotiating the issue," he said.
