Ex-director: Nik Faisal, with Najib's consent, called the shots in SRC

NAJIB TRIAL | Former SRC International Sdn Bhd CEO Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil called all the shots in the company with the consent of then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, the Kuala Lumpur High Court heard today.
Former SRC International Suboh Mohd Yasin testified that he had no part in making decisions for the company.
"Although I was one of the SRC directors, I cannot make decisions to give orders as all issues are raised by Nik Faisal and consented to by Najib," he said during examination by counsel Ishak Mohd Yusoff.
He testified that all board matters would be forwarded to Najib who acted as advisor emeritus.
Suboh is considered a key witness in the trial against Najib. In 2015, he was wanted by the MACC along with Nik Faisal and Jho Low over investigations involving SRC International.
Testimonies by other witnesses had established that Suboh and Nik Faisal were both directors in Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, an SRC International subsidiary.
It was also established that Gandingan Mentari had transferred millions of ringgit to Ihsan Perdana Sdn Bhd which in turn transferred millions of ringgit to bank accounts held by Najib.
Suboh testified that of the RM4 billion loaned by the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP), RM400 million was used to buy real estate in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
He said Gandingan Mentari was established on June 11, 2014, because the encumbrance on the land meant that SRC International was only allowed to sell the real estate to a subsidiary.
When the MACC was investigating SRC International in 2015, Suboh said he had initially agreed to have his statements recorded but decided to flee the country following an anonymous phone call.
Ishak: You said the MACC wanted to quiz you on SRC. Why?
Suboh: When SRC became a hot issue, I took the initiative to explain what I knew. But before I went to them, I received a phone call by someone claiming to be from the MACC telling me "Datuk, no need to come. Just go home".
Ishak: Do you know the caller?
Suboh: I can't recognise the voice.
Suboh testified that he was afraid because Najib was prime minister and the time. Suboh said fear drove him and his wife to flee to Bangkok.
He spent a month in Bangkok, for which he paid out of his pocket, before taking up a week-long residence at the Rosewood Hotel in Abu Dhabi. He claimed he was unaware who arranged for his stay in Abu Dhabi.
During his time away from Malaysia, Suboh testified that he was advised twice by Nik Faisal to stay away from Malaysia.
After Abu Dhabi, Suboh said returned to Bangkok and waited until the general elections last year before returning and turning himself over to the authorities.
