After selling its Media Prima Bhd stake, Umno now plans to dispose of more of its assets.

This is according to the party secretary-general Annuar Musa, who announced this at the Parliament lobby today.

"Umno is in the process of disposing several of its assets," Annuar, Ketereh MP, said.

However, he declined to disclose the assets the party would dispose and the potential buyers.

"I cannot provide more details as this is under the (jurisdiction) of the party treasurer.

"I can confirm that there are efforts to relinquish more shares that are held by Umno to certain bidders," Annuar added.

Umno sold an 11.09 percent stake in Media Prima Bhd to tycoon Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary. The Malay-based party is still left with a 7.96 percent stake in Media Prima.

The report said the off-market deal happened yesterday at 60 sen a share - 23.7 percent higher than when markets closed.

Syed Mokhtar already has interest in media companies such as Malaysia Reserve and Utusan Melayu Bhd.
