The issue of reshuffling the cabinet was not raised during a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday, according to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
The DAP secretary-general said the meeting was with ministers, and not Pakatan Harapan party leaders, to discuss government matters.
Lim also denied he submitted a list of potential candidates from DAP for ministerial positions to Mahathir.
"(If) you are referring to the meeting between Tun (Mahathir) and the ministers, it was related to government business.
"The matter (cabinet reshuffle) was not discussed," he told reporters in Putrajaya today.
Speculation has been rife that Mahathir met with Lim and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu to discuss the cabinet reshuffle.
Meanwhile, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, who was at the same event with Lim today, also dismissed the speculation of an imminent cabinet reshuffle.
"At this point of time, it's a no," she said, adding that the recent Harapan presidential council meeting also did not touch on the issue.
Lim said there was never any discussion on a cabinet reshuffle before.
"Not only yesterday, but never raised in previous meetings," he added.
Lim said the media should refer the question on cabinet reshuffle to the prime minister.
Two reports, quoting sources, stated that former international trade and industry minister Mustapa Mohamed is almost certain to become a minister.
Oriental Daily reported that his inclusion would add an experienced politician to the cabinet line-up.
Mustapa, who is also known as Tok Pa, held his last cabinet post from 2009 until 2018 in the then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s cabinet.
The Jeli MP has since joined Bersatu after the 14th general election.
In another report, Sinchew Daily said that Mahathir had informed ministers about the upcoming reshuffle during yesterday’s cabinet meeting and met with Harapan leaders to discuss the matter last night.
Both reports claimed that Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is expected to retain her post as deputy prime minister since there is still no timeline for Mahathir’s power transition with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Wan Azizah's spouse.
Mahathir had previously denied that there would be a cabinet reshuffle.
