Sarawak Wanita PKR aims to set up 31 Wanita branches across the state by mid-2020 to further strengthen the role of women in the party at the grassroots level.

Its chief, Nurhanim Mokhsen said the Sarawak Wanita PKR now has 22 branches, including one to be set up in Tanjung Manis soon.

“We are also planning to set up two more branches in Santubong and Selangau,” she said at the Baram Wanita PKR’s Fund Raising event last night.

Meanwhile, Nurhanim also called for more female candidates to be fielded in the next state election, with a quota of 30 percent candidates for Sarawak Wanita PKR.

She said the party has many potential candidates to contest in the state election and they should be given due consideration.

Sarawak Wanita PKR has over 14,000 members statewide and in the last state election in 2016, six women contested on the PKR ticket, she added.
