“I’ve heard rumours about I don’t want to entertain it. What is important is that anyone can hold gatherings, (but) there is only one party congress sanctioned by the leadership and would be held in Malacca. All the rest do not represent the party.
“They can meet anywhere, in a hotel… this is a democratic country,” he told reporters at the parliament building today.
PKR is currently embroiled with factional infighting between pro-Anwar and pro-Azmin camps, the conflict has come to a head over the issue of who should officiate the Youth and Women’s wing congresses.
On Nov 29, PKR decided that the Women’s wing would be officiated by Azmin on Dec 5, while the Youth congress would be officiated by PKR advisory council chairperson Wan Azizah Wan Ismail a day later.
Azmin’s supporters had argued that the tradition whereby the deputy president officiates both wing congresses should be maintained.
Meanwhile, elaborating on the ongoing conflict, Anwar denied that representatives from both camps have been appointed to negotiate a reconciliation.
Instead, he said the party is still at peace and the proportion of delegates attending who would attend the national congress would exceed 75 percent.
“So, I’m open for discussions every day. I meet MPs and state leaders […] regardless of what group they’re from.
“However, there is no such thing as specific discussions to make peace because to me, the party is still intact and still at peace.
“I believe the meeting will go well,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Port Dickson MP said he has not heard of any no-confidence motion against him.
“I haven’t heard. It is nothing serious because we have a million members. One or two can give their opinions, there is no problem with that,” he said.
