RapidKL puts on display new MRT feeder bus schedules

The new schedule displays the peak and non-peak hours on weekdays and weekends as well as the bus route number for each station.
According to a RapidKL spokesperson, the display of the new schedule is part of improvements introduced towards the year 2020.
"This is to replace outdated information on feeder bus frequencies at our bus stations.
"The schedule also provides more detailed information for MRT feeder bus users, assisting them to differentiate between peak and non-peak hours," said RapidKL in a statement to Malaysiakini.
On Dec 2, Malaysiakini in its special report had highlighted how the MRT feeder buses would often not on schedule with wait times exceeding 30 minutes on some occasions.
The report was partly based on data recorded from 13 commuters between Sept 10 and Sept 13 and from between Sept 17 and Sept 20.
Malaysiakini's study of their arrival and departure times found that there were those who had to wait longer than the 10 to 15 minutes as promised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Meanwhile, a public relations officer from Prasarana, who wished to remain anonymous, said that in the past, there could have been confusion among commuters over peak and non-peak hours as well as when to expect a longer wait times.
"So when they see the new schedule [..] .they won't be confused between peak and non-peak hours," said the officer.
Following the display of the new, updated schedules, Malaysiakini once again met with MRT feeder bus users to seek their feedback.
According to Amirah Hazuanie, 24, the new schedule on display at the Bandar Utama MRT station has assisted her in gauging the amount of time needed to get to work.
"I start work at 7am and the first bus departs at 6am, while the second bus departs at 6.15am.
"If we miss the first bus, we don't have to wait too long for the second bus [...] its very efficient for people who work in the morning," she said.
Hazman Naim Adnan, who boards the feeder bus at the Sungai Buloh MRT station said the new schedule on display was a positive step.
At the same time, he said the MRT bus drivers should also make more effort to follow the displayed schedule.
"I think the new updated schedule will be effective if you wait at MRT stations as it is easier to gauge the wait times.
"However, at other bus stops such as in housing areas, other external factors including traffic jams could disrupt the feeder bus schedule," said Hazman who noted that he has not faced any problems with the T101 feeder bus route he takes, be it during peak or non-peak hours.
