Mahathir thanks PAS but reminds ‘I’m already PM’

Dr Mahathir Mohamad today welcomed PAS’ plan to move a "vote of confidence" motion for him in Parliament, but pointed out he is “already prime minister”.
The prime minister, who is also the chairperson for Pakatan Harapan coalition member Bersatu, alleged he was unaware of the opposition party’s plan.
“I have no idea what they (PAS) are going to do.
“I am already the prime minister, if they want to support me, thank you lah,” he said to reporters today following a dialogue with French businesses in Cyberjaya.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan jointly announced on Saturday that the Islamic party would move the motion in the coming Dewan Rakyat session in support of Mahathir's leadership.
The motion is also to express support for the 94-year-old leader to serve as prime minister for a full term.
Many quarters from both sides of the political divide have expressed support for Mahathir to serve out his full term, despite an agreement by Harapan that the latter would hand over the premiership to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
Others, meanwhile have called on Mahathir to honour the pact.
Mahathir himself has repeatedly assured he would abide by the initial agreement. However, no definite date for the handover had been set.
