Activist and graphic designer Fahmi Redza has joined the chorus of voices urging Malaysians to remain at home during the movement control order to curb the spread of Covid-19.
"Stay the 'fxxk' home," read his message on social media.
Fahmi, who is known for his clown-faced caricature of former premier Najib Abdul Razak, also published several posters and caricatures to drive the point home.
One of the sketches featured a medical personnel holding a poster, which reads: "I stay here for you, you stay the fxxk home for us."
Another poster stated: "13 days to go. Stay home, save lives."
"You have the power to protect others from being infected by Covid and stop the spread of the pandemic by staying at home and practising social distancing. You have the potential of saving thousands of lives from being sacrificed," he said.
Fahmi also urged those in non-essential services who are being forced by their employers to work to lodge police reports.
His choice of words drew mixed responses from netizens but the activist was unfazed.
"If you only want to see a 'polite' graphic poster that does not offend... Go find them elsewhere. If you don't like (the poster), you are not the target audience," he added.
However, a healthcare worker thanked Fahmi for “tirelessly promoting the importance of this order via your influential art. Thank you for helping #FlattenTheCurve and saving lives."
To which, Fahmi replied: "I'm just doing what I can to help stop the spread from home and to do what I can to help you and all the healthcare workers that are risking your lives out there.”
“Thank you for your sacrifice," he added.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also implored Malaysians to stay at home for the next two weeks and warned that the restriction order could be extended if the infection rate continues to spike.
As of noon yesterday, Malaysia recorded a total of 790 Covid-19 cases. There have been two deaths as well.
