Woman with Covid-19 symptoms back after allegedly fleeing isolation ward
CORONAVIRUS | The police are on the hunt for a woman who fled from the Parit Buntar hospital yesterday.
The woman was believed to had fled after being placed in isolation for observation.
CORONAVIRUS | A 21-year-old woman who allegedly fled from a Covid-19 isolation ward at Perak's Parit Buntar Hospital yesterday have returned to the facility.
Online portal FMT quoted Kerian district police chief Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob as saying the woman had voluntarily returned to the hospital, claiming that there had been an apparent miscommunication between her and the hospital staff.
"The woman has yet to be declared positive for Covid-19. It appears there has been a misunderstanding between her and the hospital authorities, which led her to leave the hospital.
"The confusion appeared to centre around whether she was allowed to go home or not. We are investigating," he reportedly said.
Earlier today, Omar, in response to a police report lodged against the woman, which had gone viral, said that police were on the hunt for her.
Omar also said that she was not tested positive for Covid-19 but exhibiting related symptoms.
Personal details of the woman and her alleged escape were making rounds on social media and message groups this morning.
Hospitals routinely place those exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms in isolation while tests are being conducted.
These symptoms include a combination of fever, shortness of breath and cough.
