CORONAVIRUS | A 66-year-old man has become the country's 17th Covid-19 casualty.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said Patient 1251 had a history of chronic illness and was warded at the Muar Hospital on March 20 in critical condition.

The patient died at 4.10am today, and the source of his infection is still being investigated.

The Health Ministry extended its condolences to the family.

This is the sixth straight day that death from the virus has been reported in the country.

As of yesterday, there are 1,624 cases of Covid-19 in the country.

There have been 183 recoveries.

Noor Hisham yesterday said the "Health Ministry is preparing for the worst, and that 3,000 beds in 33 hospitals have been prepared".
